The Lyre Player: In the Footsteps of Apollo

24.00

All you need to know to kick-start your lyre journey in a comprehensive compact guide.

What did it mean to be a lyre student back in the days of Classical Greece? What drove the great Socrates to become an aspiring lyricist like you at the last stages of his life? And why was Alexander the Great, the legendary conqueror, striving to become a great lyre player, also? It is time for you, as a modern lyre player, to connect with your ancient Greek peers by discovering why it was so important for every free human to be accustomed to the mysteries of the lyre.

In this concise and compact book, you will be initiated into Apollo’s secrets, and as another mystic, you will discover the lyre’s mythical origins, its connection with two gods and the art of healing, its key role in the educational system of Classical Greece, why every Greek philosopher and scientist knew how to play the lyre, and how she (the lyre) gradually transformed—in the hands of some of the greatest artists—into a symbol of music and culture. Through simple exercises, ancient and modern melodies, and a little bit of ancient Greek music theory, you will learn all you need to know about ancient modes and rhythms to kick-start your lyre journey.

This comprehensive guide is all you need to begin your journey today and is a great source for discovering more unique books dedicated to the godly instrument.

The ancient Greek lyre is undoubtedly a musical instrument with a great history and an even greater future, as she can move both aspiring and professional musicians with ease. Almost a decade ago, we began building an ecosystem around this ancient musical instrument, and a vibrant worldwide community soon started to form. With The Song of the Lyre and its companion art book, The Lyre as a Symbol, we launch a series of publications uncovering the depth of the Lyre’s mythos. The Lyre Player: In the Footsteps of Apollo is the 3rd installment in the series. Soon, more books, equally compelling, will follow.
