Description

“He took the lyre upon his left arm and tried each string in turn with the key so that it sounded awesomely at his touch. And Phoebus Apollo laughed for joy; for the sweet throb of the marvelous music went to his heart, and a soft longing took hold on his soul as he listened.” – Homeric Hymn to Hermes

This is one of the most advanced models of our lyres, named after a great ancient musician called Olympus, one of the two fathers of the Greek music in antiquity.

His compositions were suitable for the worship of particular gods, the origin of whom is so old to be unknown. The greatest of his inventions was that of the third system of music, or genus, the Enharmonic.

Due to its soundbox’s superior craftsmanship and a soundboard made of cedarwood, the sound produced by this instrument is impressively rich and deep! What differs this lyre from the regular Lyre of Olympus, is the cedarwood that is used for its soundboard, adding more clarity and volume to its sound.

LUTHIEROS Lyre of Olympus has 11 strings (a 13-string version is also available), and it is ideal for both amateurs willing to learn how to play an ancient musical instrument, and skilled musicians with a harp, guitar, or piano background. Thanks to its string number, this lyre can give a chromatic range of a full octave. With the use of harmonics and other advanced playing techniques, an 11-string or 13-string lyre can produce three to four full octaves, along with the sharps!
