While you live, shine. – Seikilos Epitaph
Learn an Ancient Music Instrument: The Lyre of Apollo
Υou will have the chance to hear and play the ancient Greek lyre, a music instrument invented thousands of years ago! How are we going to do that?
First, we will take a closer look at the sound and the aesthetics of a reconstructed ancient Greek lyre, learn about the music system of antiquity and play the lyre on the spot! Then, we are going to learn how to play the “Epitaph of Seikilos”, the oldest complete melody (with lyrics) that survives today! You will soon realize that this ancient musical instrument is much simpler to learn than a guitar or most of the other modern instruments, and this is probably why it was used as a teaching tool for almost every young who lived in ancient Greece.
A unique (and truly one-of-a-kind) experience that is offered only by SEIKILO Cultural Space!
What will be Provided?
An ancient Greek lyre will be provided to each of the participants during this experience. These are one-of-a-kind music instruments, handcrafted by the world-renowned niche brand Luthieros.
Who can Participate in this Experience?
No need to be a musician or have any kind of former musical education. In case you are a professional musician, this experience can be tailored to your level of knowledge, just let us know in advance!
